Constipation Remedies with Ayurveda

In this post we will go through some of the solutions for Constipation provided by Ayurveda.  Ayurveda is an ancient medicine system from India which treats people using holistic techniques by balancing the elements in the human body and with the help of various herbs.  As per ayurveda system an individual’s digestive system is very important factor in maintaining a good health.  If digestive system is properly working then most of the diseases can be avoided.

In face individual may need to clear the bowels as many times as they consume major meals.  Although due to modern lifestyle and habits this is not followed by most of us.  However it is absolutely essential to clear the bowels at least once a day.

Controlling what we eat and when we eat is an essential part of healing in ayurveda.  However apart from that there are also some natural constipation remedies which are mentioned for getting relief in bowel irregularities.  The herbs which are useful are mentioned below.

Amla -Indian gooseberry is extremely beneficial in many diseases and contain one of the largest sources of vitamin c.  This is light laxative and it can also be taken by pregnant ladies.

Harde – Harde is another herb or fruit which is frequently used for aiding digestion, treating indigestion and also getting relief in constipation.

Methi – Methi or Fenugreek seeds can be soaked in water and taken daily for constipation, cough, gout and diabetes.  It also keeps the body warm in winters.

Triphala – This is a dried mixture of three fruits and can also be taken daily as tonic.

Gandhak Vati – This is made from sulphor and taken with warm water at bed time.
