How to Practice Kapalbhati Pranayama?
Kapalbhati means shining forehead. This pranayama or the breathing practice detoxifies us and over time you will achieve shining face and hence its name. Practicing Kapalbhati is quite simple and here are the instructions.
1. Sit in a straight position.
2. Close your eyes.
3. Exhale with little force from your lungs which will automatically push the abdomen inwards.
4. Do not concentrate on inhalation and continue to exhale. Inhalation will happen automatically.
5. Do it for 2 to 3 minutes or till you are tired. Then take some rest and again do one more round.
In the beginning you can do it for 5 minutes and gradually increase it to 15 minutes.
Precautions – If you suffer from heart disease or high blood pressure then do it very slowly. Make sure you have not had meals for 3 to 4 hours before this. This pranayama can be done preferably in the early morning or in the evening.
