Stress or emotional disturbances are known to cause many health problems including headaches, obesity and constipation. Many people feel the urge to go to toilet during stress but many other people exposed to long term stress start suffering from constipation.
If you observe closely you can observe the effect of stress on constipation very easily. When you go to toilet when there is urge, if after sitting for 5 minutes you are not able to pass the stool, then just come out and make the stomach relaxed. Very soon you will be able to feel the urge again and now you will be able to pass the stool very easily.
Researchers in Netherlands tried the same technique in a different manner. They selected group of children suffering from constipation. This groups was told to observe the pressure on the anal sphincter muscles. These muscles are surrounding the anus. Both video and audio inputs were used and results were very successful. Once the students observed the muscles they were able to relax the muscle and it help them reduce the constipation problem considerably.
Similarly another doctor mentioned the effectiveness of a simple procedure. Just sit on the toilet seat for 5 minutes two times a day. Just ensure that you sit at the same time. For example 8am and 8pm everyday and within 8 to 9 days the normal motions would start appearing. This is another way of encouraging the body to pass the stool and with time, the body starts responding.
There can be various ways to achieve results, but psychology is an interesting method where in you get rid of the problem, and at the same time also learn something more about your self. Isn’t that wonderful?
